It is a busy month we have ahead of us. We are excited to celebrate the following observations in the month of March:
- Women’s History Month “Providing Healing, Promoting Hope,”
- Kidney Awareness Month Building, “Paths to better kidney care“
- World Kidney Day-March 10, 2022, “Kidney Health for All“
You will also find us traveling this month to the National Association of Nephrology Technicians/Technologists annual conference in Las Vegas March 22-25, 2022 “Cultivate and nurture your dialysis career; ready, set, grow”
Kidney disease is more common in women (14%) than men (12%). Women may be more likely to have CKD because of getting urinary tract infections more often, which can lead to kidney damage. Women also have increased risk for kidney damage due to problems with pregnancy, such as high blood pressure or eclampsia.
To protect their kidneys, women should:
- Get good prenatal care and start as early as possible.
- Treat urinary tract infections right away.
- If you have CKD, know which types of birth control may harm your kidneys, and which types of drugs are safe to use when you are pregnant.
– National Kidney Foundation
This Women’s History Month, we are honored to recognize some notable females in the history of nephrology:
- Dr. Frances Harley, first woman to become a pediatric nephrologist in Canada in the 1970s
- Barbara Cole, first woman to become President of the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology in 1990
- Antonia Novello, first woman to become a U.S. Surgeon General in 1990
- Sharon Anderson, first woman to become President of the American Society of Nephrology in 2009

Our next review is on March 20, 2022, from 8 am to 12 pm!
Our last review was on February 27, 2022. The value of this review is unmatched:
“They really set you up for success over here. They provide quizzes, study review, and Michael and others who will assist you with questions you have further explain anything else. The quizzes showed me areas where I needed to improve and gave me confidence. Study sheet was perfect because it further explained and had Michael to provide his knowledge. When it came to the actual certification, I did not feel lost I was able to attack and conquer with ease. They did all that they can, and it obviously paid off. It’s really a no brainer to do the review with them. Like I said [in] the beginning they really set you up for success and am glad that I did it with them and passed. 10/10”
We offer a comfort-of-home experience with our online review coursework and virtual meetings. If you or anyone you know needs help preparing for their certification exams, register for our March review today!
